The Thursday edition

Our first Thursday edition is here! Big focus on superhero films today between, X-Men, Batman, Fantastic Four, and Clayface all having some significant news coming out.
We've got Da Pope from Cheecago now, although he's apparently a White Sox fan... maybe he can bless the Bulls so they can magically grab Cooper Flagg in the draft this year—otherwise I'm afraid of how bad things can get for them.
Lastly, I'm avoiding going on a diatribe about it, but I figured I'd mentioned our idiotic administration is killing funding from NPR and PBS. Make America Brain-Dead Again.
☝️ But first...
- Marvel seems to be betting big on Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts*, to be able to follow it up and helm the return of the X-Men to the big screen.
- Ti West is officially following up his X trilogy with Scream Queen which begins shooting in June.
- Hugh Laurie will be starring in a new Apple TV crime series, The Wanted Man, from the creator of Hijack
- Poker Face season two is only getting okay reviews...
- Vince Vaughn and Susan Sarandon are apparently in a new Netflix movie that's getting decent reviews as a light-hearted comedy coming tomorrow.
- And The Studio was officially renewed for a second season by Apple.
- They also apparently tried to get Tim Cook in the Golden Globes episode instead of Ted Sarandos, but Rogen said no.

Really, really lovely protest song and video from Fiona Apple about pretrial incarceration. Very much worth a watch/listen.

🦇 ‘The Batman: Part II’ Eyes March 2026 Shoot — No Director Attached
First, the good news: “The Batman: Part II” is now aiming for a March 2026 shoot in London. The bad news? Matt Reeves is no longer attached as director. He’s now only credited as the screenwriter.
I wish nothing for the best towards what ever Matt Reeves has been going through, but given some of the turmoil around a lot of DC productions lately, I feel like more and more pressure is going to be on James Gunn's Superman. They are sticking with the Reeves script at least, but there will be big shoes to fill in the directors chair. Hopefully Pattinson joining Dune won't end up causing any scheduling conflicts, so we can finally get this show on the road.

Below the Fold we dive into Clayface, Denzel, The Rock, The Beatles, The Blues Brothers, and more.
